Trends and approaches to new workspaces

Workspaces have evolved a lot over the years, going from totally hierarchical environments with separate offices and bosses in private and closed offices, to more open and flexible spaces where communication and interaction is facilitated both between colleagues and between workers of different ranks in the hierarchy of the company. So, where are we now and what are the approaches and trends for the new workspaces we are starting to see?

Flex Offices and Open Spaces, two trends for the new times

The terms “flex offices” and “open spaces” summarize this new vision of open, flexible and connected work environments.

Specifically, "flex office ” refers to work centers or coworking spaces where the client rents a space of the size he/she considers appropriate and with the layout he/she desires. Offices, open areas, meeting rooms, small breakout areas... offices 100% “to the consumer's taste”.

They are especially popular with start-ups, freelancers and small infrastructure companies looking for total flexibility, low costs and geographical mobility among their workers.

On the other hand, the so-called open spaces are open spaces in company offices (in this case they are usually located in the company's own facilities), where shared areas predominate , without divided areas, walls, cubicles or offices, to create a more interactive, connected and productive environment among the company's workers.

New workspaces at the ORGATEC 2024 Fair

Megablok was present last month at ORGATEC, the leading international trade fair for office equipment and new workspaces, held in the German city of Cologne.

In it, several conclusions were drawn that made clear the new approaches mentioned above, which can be summarized as follows:

- The rise of more connected and shared workspaces, with the aim of promoting both employee productivity and their own personal well-being.

- The move towards employee work-life balance, with technological solutions such as intelligent parcel lockers so that company personnel can receive their personal purchases on the premises to be picked up at the end of their workday.

- The trend towards the hybrid, with new shared workspaces where each chair, table, locker... is used by different workers at different times of the day, which requires modular and intelligent solutions to this new flexible scenario.

- The commitment to sustainability and the use of recyclable materials.

- The global approach of “less is more”, since all of the above requires efficient space management to achieve the different objectives of productivity, well-being, conciliation, safety and sustainability that these new work environments seek.

Megablok, equipment and furniture adapted to new workspaces

Megablok is a pioneer in implementing workspaces that combine all these objectives, something that is already evident from our main claim or slogan, where we make it clear that we do not simply sell lockers, lockers or benches, but we create safe, healthy and connected spaces. Not forgetting the sustainability branch.

Specifically, we could divide our solutions into three large differentiated blocks, which are:

- Smart lockers for companies and offices (through Megablok's most technological line, called Community Locker).

- Cubic series, furniture for open spaces in offices or “open spaces”, both in its traditional version and in the smart cubic mode, which adds a QR code and the possibility of charging mobile devices so that these spaces can be used by several workers in different work shifts.

- Traditional lockers adapted to different environments and conditions, such as Monoblok metal lockers for dry spaces or phenolic lockers for environments with higher humidity.

As we see, work environments are living places that evolve and change over time, adapting to the new business and social realities that each moment requires. At Megablok we provide you with the solution you need. Do not hesitate to contact us so we can help you.
